Reprint of Jari Vepsäläinen’s First Book

Tammi, a Finnish publishing house, has produced a reprint of Jari Vepsäläinen’s first book, Naimisissa Kiinan Kanssa, which came out in 2007. Whereas the latter book focuses almost exclusively on business dealings, this reprint of the first one takes a softer approach: life in China, with a Chinese family is in the center of attention.

They say that to be successful in China, one must have the patience of Buddha, cunning of Odysseus and poker face of a Franciscan. This is the world Jari Vepsäläinen stepped into as a 24-year-old, among the first western lawyers. He studied and did his licentiate dissertation in China, established his own company and now opens doors for others.
What made him a survivor in the market that is the toughest, most competitive and most ruthless in the world? What is it like to be a husband to a Chinese wife, a member of a family with different destinies and a father of a Chinese girl?
This fascinating life story takes you into the mysterious, dynamic and rapidly changing China, in which Jari Vepsäläinen has lived for over 31 years. Of those years, this book covers the first 22.
